Production at Weimako: precise and sustainable
Weimako specializes in the production of high-quality, customer-specific packaging solutions in multi-shift operation.

We produce extruded and injection-molded sharpenable pen sleeves, caps, lip balm sticks, jars, tins and closures from bio-based materials as well as classic plastics such as polypropylene (PP). Our production facilities in Germany are equipped with modern extrusion and injection systems.

Our system technology is designed for maximum precision, which enables the smallest tolerances in the outer diameter and ensures a perfect surface for subsequent decoration. This leads to significant cost savings by reducing reject rates, which benefits both our customers and us.

Overview
Injection molding 01

Our injection molding process on DEMAG and Arburg lines produces lip balm sticks, caps, jars, tins and closures. These serve as raw parts for the decorative cosmetics industry and as packaging for food supplements and skin care products.

Extrusion 02

We extrude bio-based and classic plastics using the classic extrusion process. Modern extruders guarantee low tolerances and a perfect surface. Our cores are used as raw parts for the cosmetics and stationery industry, from which lip liner, eyeliner, kajals or
writing instruments are made.

Materials 03

We only use bio-based materials, including cellulose granules made from second-generation wood. These are made from recycled wood fibers and are sustainable and environmentally friendly. Our materials enable high-quality, sustainable packaging that is suitable for both the cosmetics and stationery industries.

We hold the following certifications:

Extrusion

We extrude solid to viscous hardenable masses continuously under pressure from a shaping opening using the classic extrusion process. The production process used results in sleeve bodies with the cross-section of the opening in theoretically any size. We extrude both bio-based raw materials and classic plastics (e.g. PP). The extrusion result is only as good as the system technology or the tool used to produce the core or profile. This is why we use the latest extruders. These guarantee the smallest tolerances in the outer diameter, which in turn guarantees a perfect surface for the subsequent decoration. We as the manufacturer and you as the customer benefit from these low tolerances by reducing waste and saving costs.

Our resulting tubes are used as raw parts in the decorative cosmetics industry or in the writing instruments sector.
Our tubes are used to make first-class lip liners, eyeliners, kajals and writing instruments, for example.

Procedure description:

In our extrusion processes, continuous strands are produced from chemically foamed plastic granules, which are further processed into (pin) sleeves in several mechanical processing steps.

Injection molding

Using injection molding, we produce lip balm sticks, front and end caps as well as jars, tins and closures on DEMAG or Arburg lines. These are used as raw parts in the decorative cosmetics industry for e.g. lip liner, eyeliner or lip balm sticks. Our jars, tins and closures are perfect as packaging for cosmetic products, food supplements or skin
and body care products. The injection molding process is a thermoplastic molding process that is mainly used in plastics processing. The same technical details apply as for extruded, injection-molded sleeves, but a different process technology is used. Among other things, this makes it possible to produce high-gloss sleeves, closures and caps using injection molding. We inject both bio-based raw materials and classic plastics (e.g. PP). First-class lip liners, eyeliners, kajals, crayons and writing instruments are produced from our bio-based and classic plastic-based injection-molded parts.

Procedure description:

An injection molding machine - we use DEMAG or Arburg lines for injection molding - injects the plasticized material into the injection mold under pressure. In the mold, the material returns to a solid state through cooling or a physical cross-linking reaction. After the mold is opened, the finished part is removed. The cavity of the mold determines the shape and surface structure of the finished part.

Materials

Our bio-based materials offer a sustainable alternative to traditional wood and plastic products. They consist of extrudable and sprayable cellulose granules made from second generation wood. This wood comes from sustainably managed forests or is recycled from wood waste, which means that no new forests need to be cut down. The use of second generation wood reduces the ecological footprint by lowering the energy and water requirements in the production process. Our formulations contain various bio-polymers such as cellulose, starch, lignin, natural resins, natural waxes and natural oils, as well as biological additives and natural reinforcing fibers. Solvents are completely eliminated from our production process. As a result, our production halls smell pleasantly of wood. Thanks to this material innovation, we offer up to 95% bio-based products such as sleeves, caps, lip balm sticks and closures that conserve the limited natural resources available. Our materials are optimally prepared for modern extrusion and injection molding processes and enable a variety of surface effects, depending on customer requirements.

We also continue to offer the production of tubes made from conventional plastics. Almost any volatile cosmetic formulation can be filled into our AES plastic tubes as pencil leads or graphite leads.
