(Pen) tubes etc. are usually made of wood or classic plastics (e.g. PP, AES). Wooden pencils are complex and expensive to produce. In addition, wood types (e.g. cedar wood) are often used, which are only available in limited quantities. Thermoplastics, which are difficult or impossible to degrade, are usually used for plastic sleeves.
And that is the special thing about our bio-based materials
Our bio-based materials consist of an extrudable and injection-mouldable cellulose granulate. This granulate is made out of second generation wood. Second Generation Wood refers to wood that comes from sustainably managed forests or is recycled or upcycled from other wood products, such as wood waste. It is wood that is not obtained from direct logging of natural forests, but from existing wood resources. Thus, Second Generation Wood does not require additional deforestation. Thus, it contributes to the conservation of wood as a resource.
The formulations used contain a wide range of bio-polymers such as cellulose, starch, lignin, natural resins, natural waxes and oils, biological additives and natural reinforcing fibers.
Solvents are completely banned from the production process.
A sensual side-effect: In our production halls it smells of wood - almost like in a carpenter's workshop.
With this material innovation we offer a high-quality and sustainable alternative to wood and plastic products.
Our environmentally friendly materials have a regenerative raw material share of bio-based polymers of up to 95% (depending on the compound). Our new thermoplastic compound generation conserves the limited natural resources available. This applies to our tubes as well as to front and end caps, lipbalm sticks and closures.
After polymerization, our materials are compounded to make them suitable for the extrusion process on our high-tech extrusion and injection molding machines. Depending on customer requirements and raw material, different surface effects can be achieved.
We can manufacture our complete product range from our bio-based raw materials: Pen tubes and pen caps for the cosmetics and stationery industry, lipbalm sticks, jars, pots, bottles and seals. We produce our cleaning and testing sticks from conventional plastics – extruded polystyrene (PS) and extruded polypropylene (PP).
